The Archos 5 is a portable media player with built-in speaker and 5 inch TFT touch screen. Some of its features are touch screen display, WiFi capabilities and Mac and PC compatibility.

The Archos 5 is equipped with a 5 inch glossy-coated and reflective enclosure TFT touch screen. The screen offers a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels with 16.7 million colors. The Archos 5 is incorporated with ARM Cortex superscalar 32-bit microprocessor. It is offered in several high-capacity models: 60GB, 120GB, and 250GB. With its WiFi connectivity, it exceeds a standard MP3 or video player. The web browser is flash compatible and it uses 3G and 3.5G connections where available. The 3G and 3.5G HSDPA wireless connections are support via a USB modem dongles offered by mobile carriers. The internet applications that offer by this player are web browsing, email application, web TV, web radio and add-on Widgets. With the 60GB storage, it can store and play up to 80 movies, 600,000 photos or 30,000 songs. The Archos 5 supports AVI, WMV, MPEG-4, and Flash video content. By having an optional high-definition software plug-ins, it can offer 720p video playback from WMV HD, MPEG4, or MPEG-2 files (including VOB and DivX formats). Similarly, H.264 format video can be played by having an optional plug-ins. It is features video recording as well. By adding a few optional accessories such as docking stations and TV tuner, the Archos 5 can be turned into a full blown DVR. On the other hand, streaming on TV shows, movies and music is available as well. As for the media feature, the Archos 5’s music player displays album artwork during playback. It allows music library to be sorted by ID3 tags, and able to bookmark long files. By using both MTP and MSC transfer modes, the Archos 5 can work on any operating system. Its battery life supports up to 22 hours continuous audio playback and up to 7 hours of continuous video playback. A 60GB Archos 5 measures 5 x 3.1 x 0.5 inches in dimension and weighs approximately 8.8 ounces. The standard package comes with headphones, a cleaning cloth, an adapter for the DVR Station and a proprietary USB cable.
